Near the jetty, the Mimpi Perhentian Resort sits on Long Beach of Pulau Perhentain Kecil (the small island). This exquisite four-star resort provides a luxurious stay for anyone while participating in different exciting sea activities
Inspired by the attractiveness of the Perhentian Islands, the Mimpi Perhentian Resort was built with a unique and modern architectural design to offer a comfortable and memorable experience to the guest.
Located a ways off the Malaysian coast is the tiny island of Pulau Perhentian Kecil. The Perhentian islands are famous for their amazing marine life, epic jungles, and pristine beaches. It is a popular stop for tourists to Malaysia looking to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and for an out-of-this-world island getaway.
1. Arrival
Reaching the resort is a breeze. First, you will check in at the office on the mainland at Kuala Besut Jetty.
Then, the friendly staff will organize the 40-minute speedboat to Kecil island for us. However, it is vital to note that the last boat leaves at 4 pm.
You must pay an access and service fee (jetty service charge) and the marine park fee at the marine park counter, which costs RM10.
Mimpi Perhentian Resort is in a great location as it is the resort nearest to the jetty. After arriving on the island, the friendly staff ushers us to the front desk of the Mimpi Resort, where the team will promptly check us in.
The sea view is exceptional from the reception area. The sea has turquoise hues, and we have already imagined diving for the fantastic coral reefs.

2. Guest rooms overview
The resort offers different rooms, from a twin room to a family suite. We booked two rooms with different views for us- the Hill View room and the deluxe ocean king room.
I opted for a sea view; my friend would prefer the hill view.
Regardless of the room choice, guests have assured of a modern room with natural wood furnishings and a relaxing vibe.
Both rooms have a private balcony with sliding glass doors overlooking the refreshing rainforest or the stunning turquoise water.
There are air conditioning, flat-screen TV, a private bathroom, a digital personnel safe box, and other basic amenities. In addition, our Ocean Deluxe King room has a killer view of the sea, where you can enjoy the wonderful sound of nature.
3. Dining experience at the resort
Our booking is inclusive breakfast, so we had our buffet breakfast at the Rasa restaurant and enjoyed our meals in the fresh air facing the sea. It was a delectable breakfast spread with loads of foods to choose from, ensuring we had a full stomach before taking a hiking trip and various sea activities thereafter.
We had a quick lunch as we had planned other activities in our itinerary. I have another blog post detailing our activities at Perhentian Islands. I will include the link to that blog post once I publish it.
Dinner is also buffet-style. You can test your taste buds with traditional dishes if you feel brave or experimental. However, if you are craving something familiar, you can devour a popular western classic. Whatever your taste buds crave, you will find something that will tickle their fancy.
If you want to relax in your room, you can always order room service at any time of the day.
Besides the restaurant, the Enak Snack Bar is adjacent to the swimming pool. It provides a selection of freshly brewed coffee, snacks, and homemade signature sea-salt ice cream.
Booking.com4. Direct access to Long Beach
The resort conveniently rests along Long Beach, just a minute’s walking distance. During the day, the beach is bustling with activities from divers to sunbathers.
Long Beach comes to life when the sun sets with late-service restaurants, shops, and entertainment up the shore.
Guests can catch a spectacular fire dancing show by highly skilled performers along the beach.
As you stroll the area, enjoying the palpitating pulse of the sea, you will also stumble upon several live street performers to cast your gaze on.
If you are looking for a more relaxed evening, there are several cafes available for tourists to sit back, sip a cold beer and watch all the life unfold on the beach.
5. Amenities at Mimpi Perhentian Resort
Mimpi Resort offers a wide range of facilities. Even though there are numerous adventures and activities to discover on the island, Mimpi knows that many hotel guests want to return to their hotel and feel at peace. For guests who are looking for a laidback experience, they can head to Manja Spa for their body treatments. After a long, exhilarating day of trekking through the jungle, one can lead to the spa for foot rejuvenation.
Mimpi also knows that not all guests prefer to splash around with the fish. Therefore they offer a saltwater pool. This saltwater pool is for adults only, emphasizing relaxed vibes and making it all that more appealing.
Just in front of the pool, guests can find refreshments and freshly handmade sea salt ice cream to kick that sweet tooth and help beat the heat!
Situated near the pier and with direct access to the public beach, you can do many sea activities like kayaking and snorkeling just in front of your room!
At the recreation center, guests can learn about and participate in various excursions. The island offers copious activities, including snorkeling trips, trekking adventures, island hopping, and day trips to the nearby wetlands and island hopping.
The water at the jetty is crystal clear. We snorkeled near the jetty, and here are the images we got!
Be sure to also stop by the souvenir kiosk to grab a unique item that will always bring you back to memories of this unforgettable getaway!
There is also PADI registered dive center that caters to both newbies and experienced hardcore divers alike.
6. CONCLUSION
Even though there are several accommodations on Perhentian Islands, Mimpi Perhentian Resort has exquisite rooms suitable for every guest regardless of the experience they are looking for. They have several high-quality amenities for guests who have returned after a long day of excursions, tired and ready to relax, or for days when they need to kick up their feet.
It is also in an unbeatable location in front of the main jetty, so you don’t need to lug your luggage far on one of the most popular and lively beaches!
Please log on to Mimpi Perhentian Resort’s official website for booking and inquiries.
7. How to get to Mimpi Perhentian from Kuala Lumpur?
There are a few ways:
Fly from Kuala Lumpur to Sultan Ismail Petra airport of Kota Bharu of Kelantan, then drive to Kuala Besut jetty.
Fly from Kuala Lumpur to Sultan Mahmud Airport, Kuala Terengganu, the nearest airport to Besut. It is better to have pre-arranged airport transfers or by taxi to Kuala Besut. The staff at the Mimpi office at Kuala Besut will be awaiting you for your boat arrangement to the Resort.
We took our time to drive directly from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Besut jetty, which takes about 6 hours. We chose to drive because we have a few more places to visit after our stay at Mimpi Perhentian Kecil.
