Bukit Taisho is a small hill in Bahau, Negeri Sembilan, with a beautiful and easygoing hiking trail suitable for all levels of fitness. It is a great choice for locals, travelers, and families looking for a morning hike in Bahau.
The best time to hike Bukit Taisho is in the morning, when the weather is pleasant, with a light breeze and beautiful morning light along the way.
We were on our way from Gemas to Kuala Lipis, so we stopped in Bahau for a morning hike at Bukit Taisho.

Getting to Bukit Taisho from Gemas
It took us about 50 minutes to drive from Gemas to Bahau. We arrived at a large parking area just a minute from the Bukit Taisho trailhead.
The parking area belongs to Fo Guang Shan Temple. Parking is free, and there is plenty of space. There are no marked parking lines, just a large open area. From there, it is a 1- to 2-minute walk uphill on a slightly steep path to reach the temple and then the trailhead.
Starting the Bukit Taisho Hiking Trail
The first thing we noticed was a large round cement structure that looked like a well. Inside were many wooden sticks for hiking. They are free to pick up and use, as long as you return them when you finish so others can use them too.
The first part of the Bukit Taisho hiking trail has some steps before turning into a proper trail. We walked between palm oil trees on both sides, and it felt like we were passing through a plantation.
The trail is very well defined, with no other side trails, so it is easy to follow the right way up. It is a little steep at certain points but well maintained, with some cemented sections between the sandy trail.
We had good weather today, with no mud and pleasant conditions for walking. The only challenge is that the trail goes mostly uphill, with very few flat sections.
There are benches along the way at certain points where you can stop and rest. There is also a small bridge called Love Bridge, which is a popular spot for photos and doubles as a nice viewpoint overlooking Bahau.

Love Bridge is one of the spots along the Bukit Taisho hiking trail where you can stop for a break and enjoy the view. It is also a popular place for photos and gives a view overlooking Bahau.
Sky Mirror at Bukit Taisho
Halfway up, there is the only fork in the trail. To the left is Sky Mirror, which was where we went, while the trail to the right leads to Punchak Naga.
We finally reached Sky Mirror, a flat area that marks the first stop of the hike. It is a beautiful spot, well decorated with colorful paint, flowers, benches, and various manmade structures for photography.
It is also a great resting point to sit back, enjoy the morning view of Bahau, and take a break before continuing the hike.
Here, there is a sign marked 330, Bukit Taisho. We also met Mr. Yap and had a chat with him. We learned that he is in his 70s and, together with a few friends, has painstakingly developed the Sky Mirror area and several other spots further along the trail.
Meeting Mr. Yap at Sky Mirror
He is a very energetic and kindhearted senior who dedicates his time and energy to nature and selflessly helps create these wonderful areas for everyone to enjoy. We had a nice photo with him and his assistant.
Punchak Harimau and the New Viewpoint
Further up from Sky Mirror is Puncha Harimau, about 5 minutes uphill along a well-painted cement path decorated with hanging lanterns. It is another viewpoint, although I find Sky Mirror to be a much better place.
Mr. Yap's assistant was heading further up to do some work, so I followed him and reached a second, much larger viewpoint. According to him, this is a new viewpoint that was created only a few months ago and has not been given a name yet, so we simply called it the new viewpoint.
The best thing about this spot is the 360-degree view with no trees blocking the scenery. We were lucky to have such beautiful weather today, with blue skies and a view that stretched far into the distance.
The Final Viewpoint at Bukit Taisho
We then moved on to the last viewpoint, which took another 5 to 10 minutes. Fewer people come this far, but it is definitely worth the extra walk. Many hikers stop at Sky Mirror, but this final viewpoint offers an even better and more unobstructed view.
There is also a hut here that serves as a great viewing spot, with a table and chairs where you can sit and rest while enjoying the scenery.
Is Bukit Taisho Worth Visiting?
Overall, Bukit Taisho is a great place for families, morning exercise, fresh air, and panoramic views. It is also a wonderful place to relax, recharge, and get away from the stress of everyday life.
The hike is relatively easy and suitable for families and people of different fitness levels. It is a great place for the people of Bahau, and as visitors, we were happy to be part of the experience and enjoy what the local community has created.
Highly recommended. If you are in Bahau, even if you are just passing through on the way to another town, stop by Bukit Taisho. You won't be disappointed.
