Deciding where to stay in Fraser Hill during your holiday can take time and effort. It is also a concern about where to find food and where to get the best restaurants while on your holiday.

We will provide insight based on our recent trip to Fraser Hills, where we stayed in two accommodations and had meals at different places. We hope our recent and unbiased opinion will be helpful for you to cross-check with other information you have.

1. Ye Olde Smokehouse, Fraser’s Hill
We enjoyed staying in one of Fraser’s Hill’s iconic Tudor-style old English bungalows, Ye Olde Smokehouse. The atmosphere was unique, and we were glad we picked this place to stay in this hotel in Fraser’s Hill.
As we arrived in the afternoon, we were warmly welcomed by the manager, who graciously offered us a welcome drink. Since we don’t prefer cold beverages, he served us traditional English tea and dripped coffee.
This traditional English House has two stories. The ground floor houses the restaurants, sitting rooms, and reception, while the first floor is the guest rooms.
We stayed at the Smokehouse Inn in Cameron Highlands two years ago and were excited to experience a similar ambiance and environment here again. While this Tudor-style bungalow is a little smaller than the one in Cameron Highlands, it is similar in all other aspects.
The room was furnished with traditional furniture, some of which had been used for decades. It is not a five-star suite you would expect in a luxurious hotel, but to experience the feeling of living in a traditional English cottage from years gone by.
Some of the furniture has been used for so long that finding a similar piece as a replacement would be impossible.
Nonetheless, the rooms have modern amenities like hot and cold water and internet access.
The main attraction of Smokehouse is the courtyard outside the building, where we enjoyed our afternoon tea with the traditional English scones they make daily.
Few places in Malaysia offer such an ambiance, making Smokehouse an experience for anyone who wants to enjoy such an environment. If you like a nostalgic feeling, I highly recommend booking a night at Smokehouse when you visit Fraser’s Hill.
Dinner and breakfast at Smokehouse
We went to Scott’s Pub & Restaurant in town but ended up having dinner at Smokehouse instead. Please note that the proprietor of Smokehouse also owns Scott’s Pub and Restaurant.
Then, we were ushered into the restaurant. The decor resembled Smokehouse in Cameron Highlands, immediately reminding me of our dinner there.
We ordered chicken and fish as our main dishes. After dinner, we walked around the building, admiring the traditional decorations and furniture.
Later, we went outside to the courtyard. It was misty at night, and we managed to take some photos that captured the misty feel of Fraser’s Hill at night perfectly.
Before we checked out Smokehouse the next morning, we had a full traditional English breakfast in the restaurant.
2. Fraser’s Silverpark Resort
We stayed at Fraser Hill for two nights and checked into Silver Park Resort on the first day. The resort consists of apartment-style accommodation. Upon arrival, we had to collect our key at a small office next to the boom gate. We were then given the door key, which also acts as a sensor to open the boom gate to enter the apartment compound.
There are several blocks of apartments, each owned by different owners. Our unit was on the top floor of one of the blocks equipped with a lift. Despite the misty and wet weather during our stay, we thoroughly enjoyed the cool, breezy climate, which is what we want to experience at Fraser’s Hill.
Our unit has two separate rooms and is perfect for accommodating four people. One room has a bathroom, while another is available in the common area. The apartment has Internet, television, a separate dining and sitting area, and a balcony.
Overall, we were delighted with this unit since it was clean and well-organized.
3. The Pine Resort
We tried to make a reservation at the Pine Resort restaurant, one of the popular hotels in Fraser’s Hill but were informed that it was closed for four days due to the low season.
Despite this, we decided to visit the resort to see it ourselves. As we were not guests, we cannot comment on the interior of the rooms. However, the exterior looked worn out.
On the other hand, the breathtaking view compensated for any shortcomings in the resort’s appearance. Besides, numerous tall trees are in the valley, and a group of birdwatchers were here to photograph the birds.
4. Shahzan Inn
We had heard good things about the food at Pine Resort, but unfortunately, it was closed during our visit. Therefore, we decided to try the restaurant at Shahzan Inn, which is known to be one of the most popular hotels in Fraser’s Hill.
Since we visited Fraser’s Hill on a weekday during the non-holiday season, we expected fewer tourists. The entrance of Shahzan Inn was much grander than those of Pine Resort and Silverpark. Besides, there was a convenience store located right next to it.
The restaurant is next to the reception area. We ordered some chicken dishes and found the price and quality were slightly above average. The menu offered various selections, including traditional, western, and Chinese food.
5. Aida Daniya Restaurant & English Teahouse
Upon reaching Fraser’s Hill at noon, we immediately head to Aida Daniya restaurant for lunch. The restaurant is easy to locate – head straight up to the next roundabout after reaching the town center where the clock tower is; turn right, and you will find it.
The restaurant is on a hilltop next to a vast parking area. It is an elegant old English-style bungalow with an open-air section where we enjoyed the cold breeze and the misty hills.
The restaurant serves various cross-cultural dishes, ranging from fried rice to spaghetti. The service is relatively fast as we were the first customers to arrive for lunch. The flavors of the dishes we ordered are great, as the chef puts his heart into cooking them correctly.
6. Food Garden
For those searching for affordable alternatives, head to the Food Garden, nestled beside the public park. This spot has a collection of shops serving various cuisines, from authentic Malay to Western and Chinese. The Chinese store is among the few places in Fraser’s Hill to offer Chinese food. Alternatively, the Shahsan Inn offers halal Chinese dishes.
Please be realistic about your expectations regarding the food quality here. It’s nothing extraordinary. While the price for fried rice and noodles in the Malay store is low, it is a little expensive at the Chinese restaurant.
Besides the food stores, there’s a charming souvenir shop to discover unique mementos or souvenirs to commemorate your visit to Fraser’s Hill.
7. Restoran Cattelya (Puncak Inn)
There is another food court-style eatery named Restoran Cattelya, located next to Puncak Inn. It is relatively newer than the Food Garden. After we checked the menu, we noticed that the prices at Restoran Cattelya are slightly higher than at the Food Garden.
Nevertheless, due to its strategic location right at the center of the town, it is much more accessible and usually packed with tourists.
8. Kedai Makanan Hamzah
We had breakfast at Kedai Makanan Hamzah, located next to Masjid Sultan Mahmud, as there are good reviews about this eatery online.
We ordered traditional local dishes like tarik, nasi lemak, and roti telur.
The roti telur was well-prepared and very eggy and crispy, as the lady made it fresh from scratch on the hot plate. We also ordered nasi lemak, but I preferred the taste of the roti telur.
This shop is only open until after lunch. I found that many eateries in Fraser’s Hill are closed at night. Therefore, make sure you find out their opening hours before visiting.
9. Glasshouse Fraser’s Hill
The Glass House at Fraser’s Hill is a unique structure as it is a small coffee house with glass panels for windows and ceilings. Besides, the place is decorated with numerous small cactus plants, which one could assume are from the nearby nursery.
We arrived here in the morning, and it was raining. Hence, we chose to sit inside the glass house instead of in the outdoor area.
We ordered a cappuccino and some cakes, and the taste was quite OK, although not exceptional.
I think the main appeal of this place is its unique decor and atmosphere, which provide an ideal environment for capturing outstanding photographs. It’s perfect for Instagrammers and social media sharing.
This place is also perfect for relaxing, working alone, and enjoying nature’s sounds. Whether birds chirping on a sunny day or the raindrops falling, it’s a great place to unwind.
