This is the final episode of our Annapurna Base Camp Trek series. We will descend from Annapurna Base Camp and return to Jhinu, where we will take a jeep back to Pokhara.
ABC to Dovan
Day 8, Apr 15: Trek back to Dovan, approx 6 hours, overnight at Dovan Guest House.
We stayed at Annapurna Base Camp rather than Machhapuchhare Base Camp because we could view the sunrise at ABC without waiting early and trek up to ABC in the dark before dawn.
As the sky began to brighten, we took a short walk through the snow from our lodge to reach the viewpoint, which offered a breathtaking 360-degree view of the surrounding mountains.
Our guide predicted a blue sky this morning since it rained yesterday. His prediction was right on the spot. We were delighted to witness the breathtaking scenery that greeted us on this beautiful morning. The sky was a brilliant shade of blue, and the sun shone across the ranges, casting its golden rays on the mountaintops.
After breakfast, it was time to bid farewell to Annapurna Base Camp. The snowfall from yesterday had turned into snow on the way down, so we decided to wear crampons to make walking on the snow-covered path easier.
Although it was a long day, it was mostly a gentle downhill walk. It took us approximately six hours to cover about 12 km, and we finally reached Dovan, where we stayed overnight at the Dovan Guest House.
Dovan to Chomrong
Day 9, Apr 16: Trek back to Chhomrong, about 5-6 hours, overnight at International Guest House
It’s a relatively long day on the trek, about 6 hours, covering 10 km. The easier trail to Sinuwa involves walking through the jungle parallel to the Modi River, with some short uphill and downhill walks. From here, the trail descends through villages to Chomrong Khola before ascending to Chomrong.
During our descent, we passed Bamboo, where we stayed overnight. Later, we stopped at Hotel Himal Restaurant in Lower Sinuwa for lunch.
We stayed overnight at the International Guest House in Chomrong to retrieve some belongings that we had left behind. We opted to carry only the essential items during our ascent to ABC to keep the weight to a minimum.
Chomrong to Jhinu- final leg of our Annapurna Base Camp adventure
Day 10, Apr 17: Trek to Jhinu and drive back to Pokhara, approx 3-4 hrs
Today marks the end of our ABC Trek adventure. We woke up early to photograph the mountains for the last time. Despite being quite far from the mountain ranges, the weather was good, and we captured some beautiful sunrise photos.
After having breakfast, we began our descent towards Jhinu. The continuous descent lasted over an hour and tested our knees’ strength.
Eventually, we reached Kimrong Khola and crossed the Jhinu Danda suspension bridge to arrive at Samrong. From there, we took a jeep back to Pokhara, which took about 2-3 hours.

This is the story of our entire Annapurna Base Camp Trek. Before we came, we all physically prepared by climbing stairs, hiking, and weight training at the gym. The outcome was rewarding, as we all completed the trek without facing any problems or altitude sickness.
